THE ULTIMATE CHILEAN TOUR
Since 3 years ago we are offering as an add-on to our Chilean tours one or two days of snowmobile assisted freeride in la Laguna del Maule, an amazing and wild area in the middle of the central Andes at the Chilean/Argentinian border.
The last 3 years absolutely all the groups we had took the snowmobile option so starting this year we are offering exclusive snowmobile assisted freeride tours in our favorite spot, la Laguna del Maule.
You will have one pilot/snowmobile for you for the whole day, no shared snowmobile. This is the only way to squeeze the day to the max and get as many runs as you would be able to stand, so get ready for very exhausting yet rewarding days!!
If you like lift lines and crowded resorts, this tour is not for you. With us you’ll have exclusive access to untouched terrain, real feeling of being in the wild Andes and crew vibes, our tours are limited to 5 people with a ratio of 1:1 client:guide/pilot
TERRAIN
The Maule region it’s half way from Santiago de Chile to Chillan, the mountains are kind of a mix of the high Andes region and the Chillan region.
The peaks go up to 4.000 m (13.000 ft), the terrain is endless, absolutely uncrowded and amazing for the snowmobile assisted freeride and for skiing/riding, of course.
When we say uncrowded, it means you most likely won’t see another soul besides our group. Sometimes we see one or two other snowmobile groups but the place is so big that there are fresh lines and skiing/riding spots for everyone.
We start from the Paso Pehuenche at 2.200-2.500 meters, there a lot of different spots where we can start from depending on the snow and road conditions.
And last but not least, we ski/ride the whole day, until your legs say enough, there is no certain amount of runs per day, it’s up to you and your legs!
The terrain is perfect for making happy every skier/snowboarder, no matter your level, there is terrain for you. From very accesible wide open bowls to narrow and steep chutes, Maule has everything you need to fulfill your freeride appetite!
Another amazing feature about these montains is that you can ride from top to bottom without the need of having a guide skiing in front of you, so this makes the whole operation much faster and mean more runs for you! The runs in Maule are of aproximately 500-700 meters of vertical, the pilots drop you at the top and while you get ready to drop we drive down to the base of the run where we always will have you on sight and if anything happens we will be assisting you in seconds. We will be communicated with radios at all time, so this makes the whole operation much agile and as I said, it means much more runs for you!
SNOW
The snow in the Maule region is very abundant and of a very good quality. Most of the winter storms drop most of their precipitation in the Maule, Ñuble (Chillan) and the Araucania regions, but in Maule we have a bonus that the other 2 regions don’t have: altitude(higher mountains and higher starting spots) and that with the perfectly paved and maintained access road, we can get very deep into the Andes, much deeper than any other resort or zone further south. This combination of high precipitations, low humidity and protection from the strong winds make the Maule one of the best spots for chasing powder in the Andes. Even with positive temperatures in late winter, the snow remains amazingly good due to the lack of humidity and very cold nights. It’s one of a kind spot, believe me, it took me years to understand how this natural freezer works, and it really works amazingly!!!
